This is Jenn from PlanningAddicts.com with this week's installment of "what was I doing?" I try to send these on Tuesdays, but got stuck in a hair appointment that took 5 hours. When I got home, I was way too dysregulated to do anything but pet the cat and lie in bed vegetating.

By the time I remembered I needed to send a newsletter, I was just not going to risk that I might goof it up. There was a time, I would have pushed the button anyway. Now, I honor myself.

On to the weekly bits of instruction, tips and nonsense.

Repetition

In a printables business, there are repetitive tasks involved in the creation, marketing, and distribution processes. Automating repetitive tasks not only saves time but also reduces the risk of errors.

Utilize automation tools and software to streamline these tasks and free up more time for creativity and strategic planning.

This is not my strong suit, which is why I have a fantastic VA that sets up automation and keeps them running for me. There are some things I use to automate or at least make the process repetitive enough to duplicate.

Canva - I started making a document that delivers all the links to download my files to the customer. It also has the license, contact, and bio information - all in one place.
I just duplicate the template for each new product, then fill in the correct links.

Emails - I had a template in mailerlite when I was using it. For some reason, I struggled with it. It was clunky which slowed me down.

Now that I'm using gumroad's email system for newsletters, it's much faster. I've created a template that has the header, and footer, and I just fill in the middle section with each new newsletter.

Sales Page: I created a product and got it laid out the way I wanted. Then I just duplicate that page for each new item, exchanging the information with each new product.

Shopping cart: same thing here. just duplicating what's made and filling in the appropriate information like pricing, links and names.

Action Step: Identify one repetitive task this week that you can automate. Set up a basic automation and monitor the time and effort saved.

Improvisation

Unexpected challenges are part and parcel of this business journey.

The ability to improvise effectively can be critical in navigating these situations. Whether it's a website crash during a crucial product launch or a last-minute change in plans, being prepared to adapt is key.

But, here's another way to look at it. Are you prepared to shift even when it isn't a time-sensitive critical issue? Like, numbers are down for Q1, is there a shift to be made going into Q2?

Quick Tip: Reflect on a recent challenge where you had to improvise. What worked, what didn’t, and how can you better prepare for similar situations in the future?

By adopting these strategies, you’re setting the stage for greater efficiency, resilience, and success.
